The Fountain
The fountain is was built by the local sculptor Robin Dowell, according to an idea first developed by him, Melina Hubbard and the children of St. Buryan. The aim was to produce a fountain that ran off water collected from the roof of the community house, and which did not use any electricity to power it. The fountain is therefore operated by a pump, the handle of which is mounted in an ornamented stand at the front of the fountain (in the front of the below picture) . The water is kept in a tank below the fountain, and will at times of drought run dry.
