The essays bellow consider the nature of the overt (simple) principles of David Hume. they attempt to summarise the extensive work carried out on the links between Hume’s philosophy and Little Dorrit, which are on a separate index of their own!

  1. 1) General introduction. This takes one through the differences between Reality and Empiricism and attempt to define the space in which Hume is still relevant. I did draft this though, and is 6000 words long!

  2. 2) Essay on resemblance. Seven oddities that tries to restore to resembling the radicalness that belong to it. Is 3000 words long and drafted by me!

  3. 3)Essay on Contiguity. This examines the wheres and wherefores of contiguity. One needs to bear in mind this essay is using the stuff from Little Dorrit essays (Gypsy Pancks, and Catsby are found within that book). The essay is though readable without knowing Little Dorrit stuff, if you simply accept the examples ! It is 3500 words long and drafted by me...

  4. 4)Believe it: This essay and the next prepare the way for the idea of causality, which Hume clearly thought was his great idea. In a sense the aim of this entire set of essays is to explain why. I did draft this though (sorry), but it is only 2000 words long!

  5. 5)Well maybe. Essay on the mechanics of possibility and how it positions the argument found in Hume about the relations between tenses. This is 3000 words or so long, and drafted by author.

  6. 6)The mermaid mind. The phrase is from essay on Flora, to which this is the companion piece. It is an essay on causality  but ends in a peon of loathing for Bergsonism. It is 5000 words drafted by me!

  7. 7)The still small voice. This is the final essay in this sequence. it returns to the Nature of Reality. The end is weak, but up to then is one of my better pieces. Is 5000 words drafted by me.
