The play area took a year to build from planning to opening. It had big lottery funding (£30 000) and staid by and large in budget. The site was built by a mixture of professional artists, builders and volunteers (including children), but without the latter category it would never have been possible. The result is that the children who helped build the site have the real ownership of it.
