Wise Fools & Wily Wives – Arabian Folktales

A collection of Folk takes Arabian and Iranian Folk tales: some funny, some tragic or at least epic, many ludicrous, while other are frankly filthy or  somewhat sacrilegious. The stores ripple with willy wives and apparent fools (Dubja) who outwit men or even apparently God himself, both in their own interests but also occasionally in interests of a wider humanity. All of which  reveals the other side of a culture we can otherwise think we know very well.

Stories usually include:

Dubja and the Lion.

Dubja and the Merchant.

Dubja at the feast

The Hidith of Ikramah

The Husband who went to Mecca

The Whirling Dervish (or lazy Abdul).

The Sign of the Tassel.

The Chain of Truth

The Bedouin’s Wife

The King of the Rats

The Test of Friendship

The King who Changed his Ways.

Amon Sar

How the Serpent became the Most Despised of Creatures.

Each of the above stores are individual stories, and vary in length from a minute to fifteen minutes or so. The show can therefore be very easily tailored to last from fifteen minutes to 2 hours!

The show comes with the optional extra of Arabian Sweetmeats or Morroccan Tent!
