The Cave or Earth House

The cave or earth house (both words may be used on these pages) is built from rammed earth and tyres, using methods traditionally associated with earthships, and has a roof built from wood, and piled earth. This roof will eventually be grassed. The cave has two entrances, each entrance being around four foot high. Inside the cave  the ceiling is at least six foot high, and the centre higher still. The interior walls of the cave and its entrance have been built using tradition lime mortar, smoothed by sponges. Over each entrance there is a design made out of the end of bottles, which catches the sun light at certain times, while the ceiling of the cave is decorated with a star designs.

It is designed to be a place, where young and old would want to hang out.
